Five Simple Ways to Increase Spanish Vocabulary
The Spanish language is the second most spoken language in the world, both by native, non-native, as a foreign language and as official languages in many political and economic industries. Many who wish to advance in their careers are advised to learn a second language and most turn to Spanish with the help of Rocket Spanish program. For those who are just beginning to learn how to speak Spanish and wish to increase their vocabulary, here are five simple ways to make this easier and more fun to do:
- Read. Reading everything you can lay your eyes on written in the Spanish language will be the best way to gather and learn how to use the words as they should be used. Simply knowing a word is not going to successfully get you to use it properly.
- Speak the language as often as you can and wherever you go. One of the best advises and information I ever received was that the native Spanish speakers absolutely love it when they learn that someone is learning their language. If you speak to them, do not be ashamed, talk to them. The Spanish people have it culturally ingrained in them to listen. Then they repeat the same sentence in the correct way it should be spoken before they give their replies. They also really appreciate it when people speak to them in restaurants and do the exact same thing. This is a universal culture, so don’t be ashamed, speak.
- Telenovelas (closed captioned) are a great way to learn so many Spanish words that are used in the modern age. The more you watch these daytime shows, the more you gain access to so many words. With the closed captions in front of you, you can also read the translations into the language that you speak.
- Music lyrics or e-books are another way to gain more vocabulary. If you listen to Spanish music, you can learn to appreciate more how the words are spoken. Because it is in song form, it would be easier for you to remember the words.
- Think in the language. This is the most difficult thing for many new learners; however, this is also the only way that you do not stumble when you speak in Spanish. This way, you do not do two things: think of the words in your native language and then translating to Spanish.
